Benefits
Fast and effective exchange of information will be at the heart of the produced water club activities. The club will establish itself as a central focal point where interested parties will be able to discuss and source the latest information on technology and legislation. One of the major benefits for having such a club is that duplication of effort by different organisations can be avoided. By sourcing information collectively, it is believed that resources will be better utilised.
Benefits to government bodies
The club will provide an excellent source of information regarding the implementation of legislation and what problems and difficulties have been experienced in meeting legislation. It will also help to steer formulation of governmental policy at an international level on the issues of produced water handling and discharge.
Benefits to offshore operators
The club will provide useful information about how other people handle produced water as one of the club objectives is to promote best practices by sharing experiences. It is important to realise that oil fields are very diverse, therefore the more practical experiences we can share, the better and more effective the solutions. The operators will also benefit from having an extensive list of produced water technology and equipment suppliers which will be updated regularly. The club activities will also provide information on both new technological and legislative developments.
Benefits to water treatment technology and equipment suppliers
Technology and equipment suppliers will have the opportunity to have their company web address linked to that of the club. They will also be able to find out what the legislative and industrial requirements are, and to learn operational experience from operators and other suppliers. In addition the club will provide good contacts to offshore operators.
Benefits to R&D and consultancy based organisations
The club will keep R&D and consultancy based organisations informed about legislative and technology developments. It may also provide opportunities for the R&D organisations to find partners in developing prototype produced water treatment equipment and arranging field trials.
